So, I bought a new leash/collar thingy for Kaiya yesterday per suggestions from my father in-law. It works swimmingly and is the only leash so far that has helped with her pulling! YES! So we went for a run this morning despite the frigid temps. Yesterday, I hit the gym with the husband and worked abs and arms. Slowly trying to get back in shape.
I'm super pumped about our Holiday Photoshoot later this month. Yay! Alex Nelson Photography will be at the Dog House in Appleton from 10A-4PM taking pictures for feline and canine friends and their family :)
Carved pumpkins this week and I've eaten at least 10,000 seeds. Well, maybe not quite that much, but it's been a lot. I wish pumpkin seeds lasted ALL year! They're sooo yummy!
We have engagement photos in an orchard Thursday and fun band photos and another engagement shoot this weekend. I do love fall! All the pretty colors, the cool, refreshing temps and the great feeling climbing into warm, snuggly clothes on a cool night and snuggling up to a good show.

Life in the fast lane
Writing on here reminds me of writing in a diary, so here it goes...
Dear Diary,
So, it's been 6 months since my last post :(
The leaves are starting to change colors and Fall seems to be creeping in.
Business is going well. I love our photography business, Alex Nelson Photography and really am enjoying the ride. We are doing really well for 2011 and have loved each and everyone of our our couples. We are so lucky to have the opportunity to do a job we enjoy and get paid for it. I do love working with my husband even on days when he makes me want to growl. On those days he calls me Gertrude :)
My animal rescue work continues. I love making kitties feel better, so I've started spending most of my energy on helping with rehab and preliminary exams. The rescue is doing well.
Kaiya is back from doggie boot camp at my dad's house. She certainly liked it there and was a bit sad to come home.

Ever have those weeks when you feel like your life truly is a rollercoaster?
Between the tumultuous events at work, the development of my husbands new business and the recent illness to my 1.5 year old kitty, it simply seems like the rollercoaster is speeding up. Yikes!
Most recently Pumpkin was diagnosed with an enlarged heart. We have an appointment with the cardiologist at a university hospital in 8 days. He had a ferocious fever that has since subsided, but he is still lethargic and needs regular feedings via a syringe. Poor little guy.
Our rescue continues to grow and blossom with the addition of new volunteers and the continuous remodel of the facility. New orphan pets are daily welcomed into the facility with open hearts. It's hard work and very expensive at times, but we truly are changing the world, one pet at a time! It's all worth it!

Magic is in the air!
Our new Adoption Center renovations are underway! I'm so excited that so many people are lending a hand to help our little rescue continue to grow! I love the people we volunteer with! The work is hard, but we are rewarded daily with puppy licks and kitty snuggles. All the blood, sweat and tears is totally worth it!
Today we finished flooring, painted walls, organized the medical room and CLEANED! A friend made delicious chili and we all diligently worked on putting the pieces together for our wonderful little rescue!
I'm so proud to be a part of such a dedicated group of individuals. We are changing lives, but with fur and furless! The energy is contagious and I feel it spreading! I can't wait to share with the world the importance of spay/neutering your pet, providing excellent nutrition and exercise. They seem like such simple things, but it's amazing how few people provide the simplest of necessities.
Magic is in the air...OARS is growing...again!

Raspberries Do Rock!
My favorite food is raspberries! I've never found another food to match the super yummy taste of raspberries. My following blog entries will be a collage of day-to-day thoughts and adventures in my wild and crazy life.
In the past two years my husband lost his job twice, experienced family health issues, had a career change and struggled for both of us to find jobs. As I re-entered the workforce due to the final completion of my full-time MBA I realized just how tough it was to re-enter the workforce in today's economy.
I also help operate a local and new no-kill animal rescue dedicated to saving orphan pets throughout the U.S. We are a little organization, but truly love the work we do and hope to spread the concept of providing excellent care, altering all pets and truly loving each and every animal as our organizations grows.
